Dinah Vegas 2014

So it’s almost two months now since I have returned from my amazing trip to Dinah Vegas in Las Vegas of course. Usually they say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but honestly the trip was so beyond what I expected that I can’t keep quiet about it. First off let’s start with the simple fact that it’s Vegas which is automatically going to be an unforgettable trip in itself, unless you don’t remember anything from partying or drinking too much of course. Obviously the sight seeing was dope, the weather was great, and there’s never a dull moment there but the best part about Dinah Vegas was honestly the people I met and the new friends I made from all over the world…I’m talking from East Coast to West Coast USA all the way to United Kingdom and outback Australia. The parties that Dinah Vegas hosted were top notch from the clubs on the rooftop of the Eiffel Tower in Chateau Gardens to the outdoor Mexican bar known as Diablo’s Cantina. But hands down the best party out of alllll the events was most definitely the pool party at Flamingo’s. The whole pool, which by the way had naturally looking waterfalls and big ass cabanas, was only open to the lovely lesbian women attending Dinah Shore’s pool party event. Oh and don’t get me started on the dancers whom where of course the Truck Stop Girlz from Los Angeles, California and damn I fell in love with the West Coast even more. Let’s just say I plan on going back next year! With that said if you don’t attend at least one Dinah Vegas event in your life you’re missing out on one of the greatest Lesbian events and times of your life!

This Navy Life (Being M.I.A.)

Hey Everyone!!!!!  Miss me??  Hehe ... I know I have been M.I.A., but it is all for good reason, I promise!

I am in the military, have been 10.5 years now (yup, going for that good ol' 20 years! Why not get a free paycheck for the rest of my life?) and because of my career responsibilities, I have been in this INTENSE course learning all about equality UNDERNEATH all that surface stuff we see on TV or in history class.

The great Institute to the left (DEOMI) has got me looking at the world sooooooooooooo DIFFERENT!  Understanding perceptions and socialization ... WOW!!! Mind blowing!  By the way, if you haven't realized, I am a lil bit of a nerd, with a side of geek (where all my 4-eyed Super Heroes??!!??).

I also have a bad case of "Squirrel Syndrome" (ask me).

So back to the topic at hand, I am still here!  Miss hitting you all up!  I hope you are all aware that we sort-of/kind-of have Arkansas as a state we can get married in, as well as, Oregon and Pennsylvania (I actually didn't know those two :/)

Anywho, I will keep you all posted!!!  But please charge my absence to my sched and not my heart!  (((HUGZ)))

Congrats Chanel Turner

Congrats to Chanel Turner for winning the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Capital Area Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce Award Gala. She is the first and only African American woman with her own vodka line, name Fou-Dré Vodka.  She puts time to grow her business while working full time as a government contractor.

Fou-Dré is an 80-proof vodka that is smooth enough to drink alone only with ice.  The pomegranate, ginger, kiwi and lime flavors are infused during the distillation process. While most vodkas have the flavors added after the distillation process.

Find out where you can buy the vodka and some delicious recipes on the Fou-Dré website.

There are more than enough events to attend for DC Black Pride 2014.  First, go to the DC Black Pride Organization's website for a schedule of events they have lined up.  They are the official host of DCBP and have a full lineup of receptions, forums, workshops, festival and more for people to attend.

As for the ladies' parties!!! You know promoters and DJs are bringing it 100% this year. Here are some flyers of day and night parties happening during that weekend.  These are all happening during Memorial Day weekend, so where is a better place to be than Washington DC. You can tour around the US capital in between events.

Sweet Heat Miami 2014

Sweet Heat Miami 2014

Sweet Heat Miami 2014 was a blast.  DJ Dimples organized many promoters, hosts, entertainers, MCs, volunteers and DJ to create an epic 4 days of non stop party and fun.

You are surrounded by people who are all there to have as much of a great time as yourself.  Beautiful women, great music and the perfect weather.

All the popular lesbians that you see and follow on Instagram are all approachable. And there were so many of them.  My girlfriend even had me go up to the DJ booth so I can take a photo with on of my favorites, DJ Adore, without a problem.

The Sweet Dip pool party was nuts.  Carter the body gave a performance to remember. Brittany Duet was flawless in person as she is in her photos. And the wet t-shirt contest was BOOM!!!!

Imagine being at a foam party and seeing someone you recently wrote a post about sipping on a margarita next to you.  Thats right, Temper and her better half, Tish were right next to me and they were so much fun.  Great energy from both of them.

I had the workout of my life dancing to DJ Manesqueeze's set at the white party.  Lucky for me, she does events in DC.

I can describe all the events and moments I had for you. But I'll put together the photos and videos to show you instead on the next post. While I listen to the tracks Siya has on her website. Her hosting voice and skills were crazy, so I had to follow up on her music.

If you have never been, you now have about 360 days to make it to the next one.   I'm not sure if she slept at all during those 4 days. But thank you DJ Dimples for an amazing 4 days event you have put together.

It's Called A Good Sore!

I am in the military, and twice a year I have what we call a Physical Readiness Test to test my ability to complete a certain number of push-ups and sit-ups, and a cardio event.  This last one I actually struggled on events I had never in my 10 years of service struggle with.

Not gonna lie, it hurt!  But, it was the perfect motivation.  I have set goals and even got a workout partner to keep me going.  I may only be on Day 2, but Day 2 is better than no day!

Do you want to get onboard?  Well, check-out this sample Beginning Exercisers Routine on About.com (click the link for more detailed info):

Monday: Cardio 20-30 minutes. You can choose from one of the following:
  • Stationary Bike
  • Walking/Running
  • Elliptical
Tuesday: Total Body Strength and core training.
Wednesday: Rest or gentle yoga/stretchingThursday: Cardio-20-30 minutes.  You can choose from one of the following:

Extra on BlueCentric Production

Blue Telusma is the founder/director of BlueCentric; of one of my fave online series Skye's The Limit. I immediately signed up to be an extra on her recent filming when I saw an ad on her Instagram.  I love the quality of the final product BlueCentric gave us in STL Series, and I wanted to see for myself how they do it.

I was with them yesterday on Sunday, 4.13.14. while they were filming some scenes for Get Thirsty.  Sorry I cant give any spoilers, but its going to be good.

I have never been behind the scene of any filming, and it is a lot more that goes into production than I imagined.  From prepping the set, to keeping the details in movements consistent. I must admit, as an extra, there were a few times that I messed up on my cues. I was busy enjoying all of the creative juices that were flowing throughout the set.  I admire the cast and crew on their dedication and hard work.

You can imagine that the behind the scene conversations were filled with fun, stress, talent and more fun.  Blue, if you are reading this, put me down for future projects that you will have in the DC area.  I sound thirsty don't I!? LOL

Here are some group selfies and more photos that I stole from Instagram.
